Summary Historian Dr. William Everdell speaks about his book " The first moderns" and modernism as a cultural movement. He presents a long list of 20th century production inventions and technological innovations which make up the modern markets today. Among the 100 years old technological advances he mentions Thomas Edison's invented phonograph and its improvements. This follows a short documentary tape of Thomas Edison, viewing on TV. Questions and answers are included.
