Summary 'Empty' is the story of an out-of-control teenage party, and a teenager who can't stop what is happening to his house and his life. Col would like to get off with Lily, and lets slip that his parents are away from the weekend on the last day of term. Instead of the quiet romantic evening he had hoped for, Col finds himself inadvertently hosting an `empty': a night of stolen booze, flooded bathrooms, sex and disappointment. Empty is fast, furious and raucous. The colloquial and dialogue-driven writing explores themes eminently relevant to teenagers: fitting in with demanding mates, desiring the undesirable and the unobtainable, and severely fractured relations with parents. Commissioned by the National Theatre of Scotland as an initiative to encourage younger audiences into the theatre, 'Empty' was first performed at the Tron Theatre, Glasgow in 2010.
