A vast and ever-growing literature exists, first on the entry and settlement of Japanese immigrants in the United States at the turn of the 20th century, then on the experience of the immigrants and their American-born children during World War II. Yet the essential question, "What happened afterwards?" remains all but unanswered in historical literature. Excluded from the wartime economic boom and scarred psychologically by their wartime ordeal, the former camp inmates struggled to remake their lives in the years that followed. This volume consists of a series of case studies that shed light on various developments relating to Japanese Americans in the aftermath of their wartime confinement, including resettlement nationwide, the mental and physical readjustment of the former inmates, and their political engagement, most notably in concert with other racialized and ethnic minority groups. 588 0 Print version record. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 647 7 Forced removal and internment of Japanese Americans|d(1942 -1945)|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1801850 647 7 Cold War|d(1945-1989)|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1754978 648 7 20th century|2fast 648 7 1945-|2fast 650 0 Japanese Americans|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85069603|xSocial conditions|y20th century. |0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2001008860 650 0 Japanese Americans|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85069603|xPolitics and government|y20th century.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh2002011443 650 0 Japanese Americans|xCivil rights|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2008122200|xHistory|y20th century. |0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2002006165 650 0 Japanese Americans|xForced removal and internment, 1942- 1945.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85069606 650 0 Cold War|xSocial aspects|zUnited States.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2009120578 650 0 Community life|zUnited States|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2008100389|xHistory|y20th century. |0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2002006165 650 7 Japanese Americans|xSocial conditions.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/981479 650 7 Japanese Americans.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 981441 650 7 Japanese Americans|xPolitics and government.|2fast|0https: //id.worldcat.org/fast/981473 650 7 Japanese Americans|xCivil rights.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/981445 650 7 History.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/958235 650 7 Social aspects.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1354981 650 7 Community life.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/871028 650 7 Social conditions.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1919811 650 7 Ethnic relations.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 916005 651 0 United States|xSocial conditions|y1945-|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85140518 651 0 United States|xEthnic relations|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85140043|y20th century.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2002012476 651 7 United States.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1204155 655 4 Electronic books. 655 7 History.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1411628 776 08 |iPrint version:|aRobinson, Greg, 1966-|tAfter camp. |dBerkeley : University of California Press, 2012|w(DLC) 2011030474 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=436620|zOnline eBook.
