Summary |
Behind the scenes of ENA, a school that fires the imagination. A diabolical machine for producing technocrats or a pure embodiment of French genius the ENA (Ecole Nationale d'Administration), which was founded in 1945, is the object of many fantasies. This is not necessarily unwarranted: former students from ENA hold a great deal of the political, administrative and industrial power of France in their hands. The model has been exported abroad with local ENA schools in China, Brazil, Poland, Lebanon and Kazakhstan. Penetrating behind the scenes of this legendary school was no Minor achievement: Gérald Caillat regularly spent time in the school researching for the film over a period of more than one year which ended with sixty days of shooting. "The gardener state selects the plants, ENA replants them in the Civil Service, once installed the ENA graduates (Enarques) produce the fruits of power." The documentary reveals the different stages in the process described by the filmmaker. Edifying! |
