Born in 1933, Violette Verdy trained with Madam Rousanne (Rose Sarkissian) and Victor Gsovsky, two of the most infuential teachers in the first half of the 20th century. Violette Verdy made her debuts at the Champs-Élysées Ballet in 1945, and joined, for a brief period of time, the Marigny Ballet before starting on an international career which led her to London (soloist at the London Festival Ballet in 1954 and 1955) and then New York where she settled from 1958 to 1976. From soloist she became a well-respected teacher when, in 1977, she took the direction of the Paris Opera Ballet. Basing her teaching upon Balanchine's method, Violette Verdy has influenced the greatest names of the contemporary ballet scene, as Dominique Delouche's documentary bears witness folowing masterclasses given at the Paris Opera. 546 French dialogue; English subtitles. 588 0 Vendor-supplied metadata. 600 10 Verdy, Violette,|d1933-2016.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/n50014357 600 10 Balanchine, George.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n50017594 600 10 Verdy, Violette,|d1933-2016|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/n50014357|vInterviews.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh99001682 600 17 Verdy, Violette,|d1933-2016.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/4454 600 17 Balanchine, George.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 5551 650 0 Ballet dancers|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85011283|zUnited States.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities /names/n78095330-781 650 0 Ballet.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85011275 650 0 Choreographers.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85024742 650 7 Ballet dancers.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/826041 650 7 Ballet.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/826017 650 7 Choreographers.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/858596 651 7 United States.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1204155 655 7 Interviews.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1423832 655 7 Internet videos.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1750214 655 7 Internet videos.|2lcgft|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ genreForms/gf2011026337 655 7 Video recordings.|2lcgft|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ genreForms/gf2011026723 655 7 Video recordings.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1692913 655 7 Interviews.|2lcgft|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ genreForms/gf2014026115 700 1 Verdy, Violette,|d1933-2016,|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/n50014357|edancer,|einterviewee. 700 1 Balanchine, George,|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n50017594|echoreographer. 700 1 Delouche, Dominique,|d1931-|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/n2004112827|efilm director. 710 2 ARTE France,|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n2002135367|eproduction company. 710 2 Films du Prieuré (Firm),|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ names/nr2002035720|eproduction company. 856 40 |3Medici.tv|uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http:// edu.medici.tv/movies/violette-et-mr-b-dominique-delouche |zAccess restricted to current Rider University students, faculty, and staff. 901 MARCIVE 20231220 948 |d20181012|cLTI|tlti-aup183 948 |d20171012|cLTI|tlti-aup173 948 |d20170313|cRDT original load 948 |d20170922|clti|tlti-aex 994 C0|bOCL
