Understanding vitamin A deficiency in the community. 520 3 Aimed at development planners and students of nutrition, public health, anthropology, and human cultural ecology, this book discusses issues surrounding the use of natural sources of food for the prevention of vitamin A deficiency. During a 2-year process guided by the Committee on Nutrition and Anthropology of the International Union of Nutritional Sciences, a protocol was developed to evaluate natural food sources of vitamin A in areas at risk for vitamin A deficiency. This book describes the creation of the ethnographic research tools and their testing in a broad range of cultures and environments in five developing countries. Chapters contributed by research managers in these countries describe the suitability and reliability of the research tools, the data generated, practical applications, and directions for future policy. Many examples are given of helpful new information for planning programs at the local level for alleviating vitamin A deficiency. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 650 0 Vitamin A deficiency|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85143953|xPrevention.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh99002416 650 0 Nutritional anthropology|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh91001556|xMethodology.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh99001902 650 0 Vitamin A in human nutrition.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85143956 650 7 Vitamin A deficiency|xPrevention.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1168158 650 7 Vitamin A deficiency.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1168157 650 7 Nutritional anthropology|xMethodology.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1042323 650 7 Nutritional anthropology.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/ fast/1042322 650 7 Vitamin A in human nutrition.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1168162 655 4 Electronic books. 700 1 Kuhnlein, Harriet V.,|d1939-|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/n90676657 700 1 Pelto, Gretel H.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n81090320 710 2 International Development Research Centre (Canada)|0https: //id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n80004171 710 2 International Nutrition Foundation for Developing Countries.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ no95023160 776 08 |iPrint version:|tCulture, environment and food to prevent Vitamin A deficiency.|dBoston [Mass.] : International Nutrition Foundation for Developing Countries ; Ottawa [Ont.] : International Development Research Centre, ©1997 |z9781552504406|z1552504409|w(OCoLC)311308176 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=267448|zOnline eBook.
