In a right-moving world, women's anger about sexual violence has been celebrated as a progressive force. However, mainstream feminist politics is unable to tackle the converging systems of gender, race and class which produce sexual violence. Phipps argues that the mainstream movement against sexual violence expresses a political whiteness which both reflects its demographics and limits its revolutionary potential. Privileged white women use their traumatic experiences to create media outrage, and rely on state power and bureaucracy to purge 'bad men' from elite institutions with little concern for where they might appear next. Even more dangerously, the more reactionary branches of this feminist movement are complicit with the far-right, in their attacks on sex workers and trans people. This text is essential reading for anyone interested in the politics of sexual violence, and the feminist movement more generally. 588 0 Print version record. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 650 0 Feminism.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85047741 650 0 Sex crimes.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85120572 650 0 Social movements.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects /sh85123979 650 0 Minority women|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85085863|xSocial conditions.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2001008850 650 0 Women, White|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh89006763|xSocial conditions.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2001008850 650 7 Feminism.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/922671 650 7 Sex crimes.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1114275 650 7 Social movements.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1122657 650 7 Minority women|xSocial conditions.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1023432 650 7 Minority women.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1023418 650 7 Women, White.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1199568 650 7 Social conditions.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1919811 650 7 Feminism.|2homoit|0https://homosaurus.org/v3/homoit0000437 650 7 Women's movement.|2homoit|0https://homosaurus.org/v3/ homoit0000438 650 7 Sexual violence.|2homoit|0https://homosaurus.org/v3/ homoit0001305 650 7 Social movements.|2homoit|0https://homosaurus.org/v3/ homoit0001322 655 0 Electronic books. 655 4 Electronic books. 776 08 |iPrint version:|aPHIPPS, ALISON.|tME, NOT YOU.|d[Place of publication not identified] : MANCHESTER UNIV PRESS, 2020 |z1526147173|w(OCoLC)1120088806 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=2404664|zOnline ebook via EBSCO.
