Beginning with an account of Rachel's life as a precocious, privileged girl in pre-war Vilna, it goes on to detail life in the Vilna Ghetto, including the development of the FPO and its struggles against the Nazis. Finally, the book chronicles the escape of a group of FPO members into the forest of Belarus, where Rachel became a partisan fighter. Rather than "keep house" back at their bunker like other female partisans, Rachel demanded assignments to active duty alongside the men. Going on military assignments, she burned down a bridge, blew up railroad tracks, and helped bring in food supplies for her fellow partisans. The book opens with an introductory essay by renowned historian Antony Polonsky 546 English. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 600 10 Margolis, Raḥel.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ no2002059866 600 17 Margolis, Raḥel.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1573631 610 20 Fareyniḳṭe parṭizaner organizatsye (Vilnius, Lithuania) |0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/no2003112377 |vBiography.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh99001237 610 27 Fareyniḳṭe parṭizaner organizatsye (Vilnius, Lithuania) |2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/784385 647 7 World War|d(1939-1945)|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast /1180924 648 7 1939 - 1945|2fast 650 0 Women guerrillas|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85147543|zLithuania|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ names/n82209573-781|vBiography.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh99001237 650 0 Women guerrillas|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85147543|zBelarus|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n91128701-781|vBiography.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh99001237 650 0 World War, 1939-1945|xUnderground movements|zLithuania. |0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2010119762 650 0 World War, 1939-1945|xUnderground movements|zBelarus. |0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2008113904 650 0 World War, 1939-1945|vPersonal narratives, Lithuanian. |0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2010119761 650 0 World War, 1939-1945|vPersonal narratives, Jewish.|0https: //id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85148465 650 0 Jewish women|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85147377|zLithuania|zVilnius|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/n82166208-781|vBiography.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh99001237 650 7 Women guerrillas.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1177721 650 7 Jewish women.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/983062 650 7 BIOGRAPHY & AUTOBIOGRAPHY|xHistorical.|2bisacsh 650 7 HISTORY|xMilitary|xWorld War II.|2bisacsh 650 7 War|xUnderground movements.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org /fast/1355184 651 0 Vilnius (Lithuania)|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n82166208|vBiography.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh99001237 651 7 Lithuania.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1227863 651 7 Belarus.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1260637 651 7 Lithuania|zVilnius.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1223003 655 2 Autobiography.|0https://id.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/D020493 655 2 Personal Narrative.|0https://id.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/D062210 655 4 Electronic books. 655 7 Biographies.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1919896 655 7 Personal narratives|vLithuanian.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1424135 655 7 Personal narratives|vJewish.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1423845 655 7 Personal narratives.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1423843 655 7 Autobiographies.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1919894 655 7 Autobiographies.|2lcgft|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ genreForms/gf2014026047 655 7 Personal narratives.|2lcgft|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/genreForms/gf2014026142 700 1 Piotrow, F.
