"The 1854 Richard Bentley first edition (RB) of Flora Lyndsay serves as copy ext for this edition. The textual notes that follow comprise alterations of hrasing, spelling, and punctuation in numerous passages undertaken by he American firm De Witt & Davenport (DD) in their 1855 edition. These include hanges of two kinds: small alterations in spelling, punctuation, and word choice o accord with American grammatical and stylistic practice; and additions and lterations apparently made by Moodie herself in the novel"--Textual notes
