Melissa Kirschke Stockdale presents the first comprehensive study of the Great War's influence on Russian notions of national identity and citizenship. Drawing on a vast array of sources, the book examines the patriotic and nationalist organizations which emerged during the war, the role of the Russian Orthodox Church, the press and the intelligentsia in mobilizing Russian society, the war's impact on the rights of citizens, and the new, democratized ideas of Russian nationhood which emerged both as a result of the war and of the 1917 revolution. Russia's war experience is revealed as a process that helped consolidate in the Russian population a sense of membership in a great national community, rather than being a test of patriotism which they failed. 588 0 Print version record. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 647 7 World War|d(1914-1918)|2fast|1https://id.oclc.org/worldcat /entity/E39Qhp4vB9cvdKydGHm4yKx7Gb 648 7 1900-1999|2fast 650 0 World War, 1914-1918|xSocial aspects|zRussia. 650 0 World War, 1914-1918|xPolitical aspects|zRussia. 650 0 War and society|zRussia|xHistory|y20th century. 650 0 Industrial mobilization|zRussia|xHistory|y20th century. 650 0 Patriotism|zRussia|xHistory|y20th century. 650 0 World War, 1914-1918|zRussia. 650 7 HISTORY|zEurope|xWestern.|2bisacsh 650 7 Buddhism and politics|2fast 650 7 Industrial mobilization|2fast 650 7 Patriotism|2fast 650 7 Social aspects|2fast 650 7 War and society|2fast 651 7 Russia|2fast 655 7 History|2fast 776 08 |iPrint version:|aStockdale, Melissa Kirschke.|tMobilizing the Russian nation.|dNew York : Cambridge University Press, 2016|z9781107093867|w(DLC) 2015045377|w(OCoLC)932116104 830 0 Studies in the social and cultural history of modern warfare ;|v45. 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=1433574|zOnline ebook via EBSCO.
