Summary |
This book allows, among other things, to approach most of the developments, trends and theoretical interests that currently occupy social scientists in Latin America. It is a map capable of showing much of what is being done in the field of social theory, and also capable of showing much of what remains to be done. One of the most notable features of this map is its plurality. It is verified here that the most diverse traditions of thought pass through our continent, and that they are reworked by new readings in a way that is as vital as it is rigorous and consistent. It remains to be seen whether this existing pluralism will continue to expand, whether it will come to harbor more fully non-traditional traditions of thought. That is, if it will be able to open itself more strongly to a dialogue with points of view about the social, the political and the cultural coming from the non-Western epistemes, or not completely Western, that inhabit the global south. |
