Many education policymakers and researchers falsely believe that Black male teachers have a primary responsibility to foster the social development of Black male students. However, increasing the presence of Black male teachers improves the diversity of the profession and should be viewed as a benefit to the system, as they provide quality services to all students regardless of race and/or gender. This edited volume offers sound suggestions for advancing diversity in the teaching profession. It provides teacher education programs with needed training materials to accommodate Black male students, and school district administrators and leaders with information to help recruit and retain Black male teachers. Each chapter will feature policy and practice recommendations and a case example to spur action and increase opportunities for discussion. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 650 0 Teachers, Black|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh89003264|zUnited States.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities /names/n78095330-781 650 0 African American teachers|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85001910|zUnited States.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/n78095330-781 650 0 Multicultural education|zUnited States.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2008107206 650 7 Teachers, Black.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1144555 650 7 African American teachers.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/ fast/799384 650 7 Multicultural education.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/ fast/1028816 651 7 United States.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1204155 655 0 Electronic books. 655 4 Electronic books. 655 7 Case studies.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1423765 700 1 Lewis, Chance W.|q(Chance Wayne),|d1972-|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n2005067314 700 1 Toldson, Achebe,|d1973-|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ names/n2004046314 776 08 |iPrint version:|z9781781906217 830 0 Advances in race and ethnicity in education ;|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/names/no2013077655|vv. 1. 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=579032|zOnline eBook.
