Given the genre's emphasis on love and chastity, the specter of adultery looms over most of the scenarios that develop into elaborate trials. Such scenes shed light on the Greek reception of the criminalization of adultery promulgated by the moral legislation during the reign of Augustus. This book focuses on three major novels whose composition coincided with the extension of Roman citizenship when access to Roman courts was granted to increasing numbers of inhabitants of the eastern provinces of the Roman Empire. 588 0 Print version record. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 600 00 Chariton.|tDe Chaerea et Callirrhoe|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/nr2005001451|xCriticism, Textual.|0https ://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh99005388 600 00 Achilles Tatius.|tLeucippe and Clitophon|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/names/nr2002038224|xCriticism, Textual.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh99005388 600 00 Heliodorus,|cof Emesa.|tAethiopica|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/n83035350|xCriticism, Textual.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh99005388 630 07 Aethiopica (Heliodorus, of Emesa)|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1360197 630 07 De Chaerea et Callirrhoe (Chariton)|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1356844 630 07 Leucippe and Clitophon (Achilles Tatius)|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1357702 650 0 Roman law|xInfluence.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85114935 650 0 Law in literature.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85075309 650 0 Adultery (Roman law)|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85001055 650 7 Roman law|xInfluence.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1099765 650 7 Law in literature.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 994014 650 7 Adultery (Roman law)|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 797396 655 4 Electronic books. 655 7 Criticism, interpretation, etc.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1411635 655 7 Academic theses.|2lcgft|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ genreForms/gf2014026039 655 7 Academic theses.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1726453 776 08 |iPrint version:|aSchwartz, Saundra.|tFrom bedroom to courtroom.|d[Eelde, Netherlands] : Barkhuis : Groningen : Groningen University Library, 2016|z9789492444080|w(DLC) 2017391133|w(OCoLC)973876073 830 0 Ancient narrative.|pSupplementum ;|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/no2003011833|v21. 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=1703287|zOnline eBook.
