Bibliography Includes bibliographical references and index.
Summary This collection of peer-reviewed papers covers innovations and practical experience in magnetic suspension systems and new magnetic bearing structures, all types of magnetic actuators, passive suspension, new measuring method and sensing technology, magnetic-field expertise and case studies, safety and reliability studies, key components and materials, modeling and identification, self-bearing (bearing-less) motors, self-sensing (sensor-less) techniques, low-loss magnetic bearings, superconductor magnetic bearings, micro-bearings and other novel research areas. This work will be invaluable to production and research engineers, research students and academics. Drawn from papers presented at the Fourth Chinese Symposium on Magnetic Bearings held in Shanghai, China in August, 2011, this collection showcases current scholarship in a wide range of theoretical and practical topics related to electromagnetic bearing design and applications. The volume is divided into sections covering magnetic bearing theory, the design and development of magnetic suspension systems, and miscellaneous magnetic bearing applications, and individual essays address topics such as direct torque control of bearing-less synchronous reluctance motors, back-stepping nonlinear robust controllers for AMB spindles, and modal analysis of maglev linear feed units. Articles include keywords, abstracts, illustrations and formulas, and both keyword and author indexes are provided. Contributors are Chinese academics in engineering fields from a variety of institutions.
