With this catastrophic event, the historical context is both well-known and much discussed by contemporaries and modern scholars. This opportunity to examine material connected to a sole event, but across a broad spectrum of geographical space and social class, is unique for hoard horizons in Hungary, and, for that matter, in Europe. Though this study focuses on hoards connected to the Mongol invasion, it is also relevant beyond this specific context. The work addresses issues concerning hoard finds and material culture, and examines how finds are related when found in different contexts (a hoard, grave, or settlement feature), thus the questions raised and conclusions reached are important for other medieval hoard finds. By comparing hoards related to a single historical event to a contemporaneous site - containing a village, a church, and a cemetery - assessments can be made regarding how hoards reflect social issues such as stratification, wealth, status, and fashion."--|cBack cover. 588 0 Print version record. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 648 7 13th century|2fast 650 0 Antiquities|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85005757|y13th century.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh2002012456 650 0 Treasure troves|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85137201|zHungary|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n79053090-781|y13th century.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2002012456 650 0 Grave goods|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh2001002091|zHungary|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ names/n79053090-781|y13th century.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2002012456 650 7 Antiquities.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/810745 650 7 Treasure troves.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1431639 650 7 Grave goods.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/946842 651 7 Hungary.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1205132 655 4 Electronic books. 655 7 History.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1411628 710 2 Central European University.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/no92012349 776 08 |iPrint version:|aVargha, Mária.|tHoards, grave goods, jewellery.|dOxford : Archaeopress Publishing Ltd, [2015] |z9781784912024|w(OCoLC)933291874 830 0 Archaeopress archaeology.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ names/no2015043939 830 0 Archaeolingua.|pCentral European series ;|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/names/no2002085327|v8. 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=2295619|zOnline ebook via EBSCO.
