He shows how these relations followed a very different pattern to the high-level discussions concerning the economic shape of the post-war world that were going on at the same time. In this way, he highlights the need for a more nuanced understanding of the broader process of Anglo -American economic diplomacy. Based on extensive archival research and a thorough knowledge of the secondary literature, this is a major addition to the study of Anglo -American relations in the 20th century. Explores a number of topics relevant to the broader process of post-war economic diplomacy: The Lend-Lease Export White Paper and its effects on British exports to South America Economic warfare policies such as blacklisting and the Axis replacement programme Particular industries which had a strategic value as well as commercial importance, such as telecommunications Enterprises which took on an importance beyond their intrinsic worth, such as the central Brazilian railway 588 0 Print version record. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 648 7 1933-1945|2fast 650 7 BUSINESS & ECONOMICS|xExports & Imports.|2bisacsh 650 7 BUSINESS & ECONOMICS|xInternational|xGeneral.|2bisacsh 650 7 BUSINESS & ECONOMICS|xInternational|xMarketing.|2bisacsh 650 7 POLITICAL SCIENCE|xInternational Relations|xTrade & Tariffs.|2bisacsh 650 7 POLITICAL SCIENCE|xGeneral.|2bisacsh 650 7 International economic relations|2fast 650 7 Diplomatic relations|2fast 651 0 Great Britain|xForeign relations|y1936-1945. 651 0 United States|xForeign relations|y1933-1945. 651 0 Great Britain|xForeign economic relations|zSouth America. 651 0 South America|xForeign economic relations|zGreat Britain. 651 0 United States|xForeign economic relations|zSouth America. 651 0 South America|xForeign economic relations|zUnited States. 651 7 Great Britain|2fast|1https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/entity/ E39PBJdmp7p3cx8hpmJ8HvmTpP 651 7 South America|2fast|1https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/entity/ E39PBJkXBJV9Hk6cKTTG6C3fbd 651 7 United States|2fast|1https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/entity/ E39PBJtxgQXMWqmjMjjwXRHgrq 776 08 |iPrint version:|aMills, Thomas C.|tPost-War Planning on the Periphery : Anglo-American Economic Diplomacy in South America, 1939?1945.|dEdinburgh : Edinburgh University Press, ©2012|z9780748643882 830 0 Edinburgh studies in Anglo-American relations. 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=502839|zOnline ebook via EBSCO.
