Originally published with book 2, under title: Two bookes of ayres. The first, contayning diuine and morall songs: the second, light conceits of louers. To be sung to the lute and viols, in two, three, and foure parts: or by one voyce to an instrvment.
For solo voice, with lute accompaniment transcribed from the tablature into modern notation for piano. Additional vocal and instrumental parts are omitted.
In the preface of the original edition, Campion stated that "these ayres were for the most part framed at first for one voyce with the lute, or violl."
