This book accepts the natural world as such by investigating how Anglo-Saxons interacted with and conceived of their lived environments. Examining Old English poems, such as 'Beowulf' and 'Judith', as well as descriptions of natural events from the 'Anglo-Saxon Chronicle' and other documentary texts, Heide Estes shows that Anglo-Saxon ideologies which view nature as diametrically opposed to humans, and the natural world as designed for human use, have become deeply embedded in our cultural heritage, language, and more. 588 Description based on print version record; resource not viewed. 590 JSTOR|bBooks at JSTOR Open Access 650 0 Nature in literature.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85090286 650 0 Ecocriticism.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh2002001448 650 0 Landscapes in literature.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh95010443 650 0 Ecology in literature.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh94004213 650 7 Nature in literature.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1034680 650 7 Ecocriticism.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/901428 650 7 Landscapes in literature.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/ fast/1899802 650 7 Ecology in literature.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast /901557 650 7 English literature|yOld English, ca. 450-1100|xHistory and criticism.|2idszbzes 650 7 Nature in literature.|2idszbzes 650 7 Landscape in literature.|2idszbzes 650 7 Ecocriticism.|2idszbzes 650 7 POETRY|xEnglish, Irish, Scottish, Welsh.|2bisacsh 650 7 LITERARY CRITICISM|xMedieval.|2bisacsh 655 4 Electronic books. 776 08 |iPrint version:|tAnglo-Saxon literary landscapes |dAmsterdam : Amsterdam University Press, [2017] |z9789089649447|w(DLC) 2017466435 830 0 Environmental humanities in pre-modern cultures.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/names/no2017145445 856 40 |uhttps://www.jstor.org/stable/10.2307/j.ctt1zkjxx3 |zOnline ebook.
