This study compares the language of Codex Bezae with that of Codex Sinaiticus and Codex Vaticanus, using the approach of discourse analysis to re-assess how variant readings have arisen. It emerges that the language patterns of the Alexandrian text are variable and the focus of its message historical. In contrast, the Bezan text displays an exceptional degree of lingusitic consistency and a coherence of purpose which is essentially theological, with a marked interest in a Jewish point of view. The conclusion is that Bezan is the earlier of the two texts. 588 0 Print version record. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 630 00 Bible.|pActs|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n79022117|xCriticism, Textual.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh99005388 630 00 Bible.|pActs.|lGreek.|sCodex Bezae|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/no2015123950|xCriticism, Textual.|0https ://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh99005388 630 04 Codex Bezae. 630 06 Bible.|pActes des Apôtres|xCritique textuelle. 630 06 Bible.|pÉvangiles et Actes des Apôtres.|lGrec|sCodex de Bèze|xVersions.|xCritique textuelle. 630 7 Bible.|pActs.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1892885 630 7 Codex Bezae.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1368284 630 07 Bible.|pActs.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1892885 650 0 Greek language, Biblical|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85057160|xDiscourse analysis.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh99002237 650 7 Criticism, Textual.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 883762 650 7 Greek language, Biblical|xDiscourse analysis.|2fast|0https ://id.worldcat.org/fast/947311 650 7 Greek language, Biblical.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/ fast/947303 655 4 Electronic books. 655 7 Criticism, interpretation, etc.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1411635 776 08 |iPrint version:|aHeimerdinger, Jenny.|tBezan text of Acts.|dLondon ; New York : Sheffield Academic Press, ©2002 |z082646212X|w(DLC) 2003386899|w(OCoLC)51546263 830 0 Journal for the study of the New Testament.|pSupplement series ;|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n42031989 |v236. 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=378108|zOnline eBook.
