So frequently is the word used, and in so many contexts, that it can become confusing to clearly frame what the word means at present. Clarity is important, as it can help provide focus, direction, and strategy for organizations often under the shadow of limited resources. More bluntly, innovation is often synonymous with change, progress, and addressing user needs in new ways--critical concepts in today's volatile higher education environment. This issue of Library Technology Reports seeks to open or continue the discussion of what's meant by innovation, focusing specifically on innovation with a strong technological underpinning. A brief review of the literature--scholarly and mainstream--is accompanied by some more indirect methods to try to better grasp what librarians and the profession refer to when they use the word innovation. Later, results from a survey open to Association of Research Library [sic] members offer additional insights into what directors of large research libraries think about when considering the concept of technological innovation." 588 0 Print version record. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 650 0 Libraries|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85076502|xTechnological innovations.|0https://id.loc.gov /authorities/subjects/sh2001009095 650 0 Technological innovations|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85133143|xTerminology.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh99001987 650 0 Library directors|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects /sh99003924|xAttitudes.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh2002006216 650 0 Library administrators|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85076660|xAttitudes.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2002006216 650 0 Libraries|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85076502|xInformation technology.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2002012003 650 0 Library surveys.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85076739 650 0 Research libraries|xAims and objectives.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh95009131 650 0 Academic libraries|xAims and objectives.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85076588 650 0 Technological innovations|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85133143|xLibraries|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2002006394|xPlanning.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2002006228 650 7 Libraries|xTechnological innovations.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/997481 650 7 Libraries.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/997341 650 7 Technological innovations.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/ fast/1145002 650 7 Library directors.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 997709 650 7 Library administrators|xAttitudes.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/997627 650 7 Library administrators.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/ fast/997626 650 7 Libraries|xInformation technology.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/997410 650 7 Library surveys.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 998007 650 7 Research libraries|xAims and objectives.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1095333 650 7 Academic libraries|xAims and objectives.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/795010 650 7 Planning.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1065224 655 4 Electronic books. 776 08 |iPrint version:|aVaughan, Jason.|tTechnological innovation.|b7th ed.|dChicago : American Library Association, 2014|z9780838959046 830 0 Library technology reports ;|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/no98069835|vv. 49, no 7. 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=800554|zOnline eBook.
