Synthesis. 520 8 An approach that encompasses the human and natural dimensions of ecosystems is one that the Wider Caribbean Region knows it must adopt and implement, in order to ensure the sustainable use of the region's shared marine resources. This volume contributes towards that vision, bringing together the collective knowledge and experience of scholars and practitioners within the Wider Caribbean to begin the process of assembling a road map towards marine ecosystem based management (EBM) for the region. It also serves a broader purpose of providing stakeholders and policy actors in each of the world's sixty-four Large Marine Ecosystems, with a comparative example of the challenges and information needs required to implement principled ocean governance generally and marine EBM in particular, at multiple levels. Additionally, the volume serves to supplement the training of graduate level students in the marine sciences by enhancing interdisciplinary understanding of challenges in implementing marine EBM. 546 English. 588 0 Print version record. 590 JSTOR|bBooks at JSTOR Open Access 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 650 0 Marine resources|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85081257|zCaribbean Area|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities /subjects/sh85020279-781|xManagement.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2002007911 650 0 Ecosystem management|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh93001294|zCaribbean Area.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85020279-781 650 0 Fishery management|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85048696|zCaribbean Area.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85020279-781 650 7 Marine resources.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1009886 650 7 Management.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1007141 650 7 Ecosystem management.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1432037 650 7 Fishery management.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 926228 651 7 Caribbean Area.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1244080 653 public administration 653 sociology 653 bestuurskunde 653 sociologie 655 0 Electronic books. 655 4 Electronic books. 700 1 Fanning, Lucia.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ no2011186765 700 1 Mahon, Robin.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n91086418 700 1 McConney, Patrick.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ no2005048350 710 2 Centre for Maritime Research.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/no2005020452 776 08 |iPrint version:|tTowards marine ecosystem-based management in the wider Caribbean.|dAmsterdam : Amsterdam University Press : Centre for Maritime Research, ©2011 |z9789089642424|w(OCoLC)669124819 830 0 MARE publication series ;|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ names/no2004104965|vno. 6. 856 40 |uhttps://www.jstor.org/stable/10.2307/j.ctt46n21t|zOnline ebook.
