Rafeq's principal contribution to the study of the social history of Syria between the sixteenth and nineteenth centuries lies in his pioneering use of the resources of the Islalmic court records, the sijillat in the mahkama alshar'iyya, for the writing of social and economic history. Rafeq has been the guide and mentor of many of his own contemporaries, as well as of younger scholars in the Arab world, Europe and North America. The volume attmepts to follow and complement the major themes in the socio-economic history of Bilad al-Sham which have animated Rafeq's scholarship since the 1960's.-- Back cover. 588 0 Print version record. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 600 10 Rafeq, Abdul-Karim.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n82091920 600 17 Rafeq, Abdul-Karim.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1993677 600 17 Rāfiq, ʻAbd-al-Karīm,|d1931-|2gnd|0(DE-588)142038806 651 0 Turkey|xHistory|yOttoman Empire, 1288-1918.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85138802 651 4 Empire ottoman|xHistoire. 655 4 Electronic books. 655 7 Festschriften.|2lcgft|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ genreForms/gf2016026082 655 7 Festschriften.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1941036 700 1 Rafeq, Abdul-Karim.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n82091920 700 1 Sluglett, Peter.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n80079651 700 1 Weber, Stefan|c(Director of the Museum of Islamic Art) |0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/nb2013024778 776 08 |iPrint version:|tSyria and Bilad al-Sham under Ottoman rule.|dLeiden ;|aBoston :|bBrill|z9789004181939|w(DLC) 2009045400|w(OCoLC)461896022 830 0 Ottoman Empire and its heritage ;|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/n94007126|vv. 43. 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=503934|zOnline eBook.
