This in-depth study focuses on the Bosmun of Daiden, a Ramu River people in an under-represented area in the ethnography of Papua New Guinea, uncovering the conceptual convergence of local notions of relatedness, foodways, and empathy. In weaving together discussions about paramount values as passed on through myth, the expression of feelings in daily life, and the bodily experience of social and physical environs, a life-world unfolds in which moral, emotional, and embodied foodways contribute notably to the creation of relationships. Concerned with unique processes of "making kin," the book adds a distinct case to recent debates about relatedness and empathy and sheds new light onto the conventional anthropological themes of food production, sharing, and exchange."--Publisher's website 588 0 PDF. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 650 0 Bosmun (Papua New Guinean people)|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2012004027|xFood|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh99005367|xSocial aspects.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh00002758 650 0 Bosmun (Papua New Guinean people)|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2012004027|xKinship.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2002011463 650 0 Bosmun (Papua New Guinean people)|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2012004027|xSocial life and customs.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh2001008851 650 0 Food|xSocial aspects|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh2008120936|zPapua New Guinea|zRamu River Valley.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh2012004028-781 650 0 Kinship|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85072479|zPapua New Guinea|zRamu River Valley.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2012004028-781 650 7 Bosmun (Papua New Guinean people)|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1893029 650 7 Food.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/930458 650 7 Social aspects.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1354981 650 7 Kinship.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/987769 650 7 Manners and customs.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1007815 650 7 SOCIAL SCIENCE|xDiscrimination & Race Relations.|2bisacsh 650 7 SOCIAL SCIENCE|xMinority Studies.|2bisacsh 650 7 Food|xSocial aspects.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 930613 650 7 SOCIAL SCIENCE|xAnthropology|xCultural.|2bisacsh 651 0 Ramu River Valley (Papua New Guinea)|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2012004028|xSocial life and customs.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh2001008851 651 7 Papua New Guinea|zRamu River Valley.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1889778 655 4 Electronic books. 776 08 |iPrint version:|aPoser, Anita von.|tFoodways & Empathy : Relatedness in a Ramu River Society, Papua New Guinea. |dNew York : Berghahn Books, ©2013|z9780857459190 830 0 Person, space and memory in the contemporary Pacific ; |0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/no2007137433|vv. 4. 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=630221|zOnline ebook via EBSCO.
