The essays collected in the present volume put a special emphasis on these "foreign" and less familiar aspects of Chinese religion. Apart from an introductory article on Daoism (the prototypical autochthonous religion of China), the volume reflects China's encounter with religions of the so-called Western Regions, starting from the adoption of Indian Buddhism to early settlements of religious minorities from the Near East (Islam, Christianity, and Judaism) and the early modern debates between Confucians and Christian missionaries. Contemporary religious minorities, their specific social problems, and their regional diversities are discussed in the cases of Abrahamitic traditions in China. 542 1 |fThis work is licensed under a Creative Commons license |uhttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/legalcode 590 JSTOR|bBooks at JSTOR Open Access 650 0 Religious minorities|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh93005714|zChina|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities /names/n79091151-781|xHistory|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh99005024|vCongresses.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh99001533 650 0 Religious pluralism|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85112700|zChina|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities /names/n79091151-781|xHistory|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh99005024|vCongresses.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh99001533 650 7 Religion.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1093763 650 7 History.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/958235 650 7 Religious minorities.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1094193 650 7 Religious pluralism.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1094200 651 0 China|xReligion|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85024177|xHistory|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh99005024|vCongresses.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh99001533 651 7 China.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1206073 655 0 Electronic books. 655 4 Electronic books. 655 7 Conference papers and proceedings.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1423772 655 7 History.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1411628 655 7 Conference papers and proceedings.|2lcgft|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/genreForms/gf2014026068 700 1 Scheid, Bernhard,|d1960-|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ names/nr97002549|eauthor. 776 08 |iPrint version:|z9783700177593|z3700177593|w(DLC) 2016429521|w(OCoLC)904950234 830 0 Beiträge zur Kultur- und Geistesgeschichte Asiens ;|0https ://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n93054283|vNr. 85. 830 0 Sitzungsberichte (Österreichische Akademie der Wissenschaften.
