The subject(s) of Europe /|rMichael Geyer. 520 "Despite the growing interest in general European history, the European dimension is surprisingly absent from the writing of contemporary history. In most countries, the historiography on the 20th century continues to be dominated by national perspectives. Although there is cross-national work on specific topics such as occupation or resistance, transnational conceptions and narratives of contemporary European history have yet to be worked out. This volume focuses on the development of a shared conception of recent European history that will be required as an underpinning for further economic and political integration so as to make lasting cooperation on the old continent possible. It tries to overcome the traditional national framing that ironically persists just at a time when organized efforts to transform Europe from an object of debate to an actual subject have some chance of succeeding in making it into a polity in its own right."--|cProvided by publisher. 588 0 Print version record. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 648 7 20th century|2fast 648 7 1900-1999|2fast 650 0 History|xPhilosophy|vCongresses.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2008105689 650 0 European cooperation|vCongresses.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2008103346 650 0 Collective memory|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects /sh2006002444|zEurope|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85045631-781|vCongresses.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh99001533 650 7 History|xPhilosophy.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 958266 650 7 European cooperation.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 916676 650 7 Collective memory.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1739814 650 7 HISTORY|zEurope|xWestern.|2bisacsh 650 7 History.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/958235 650 7 HISTORY|xModern|y20th Century.|2bisacsh 651 0 Europe|xHistory|y20th century|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85045714|vCongresses.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh99001533 651 7 Europe.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1245064 655 0 Electronic books. 655 4 Electronic books. 655 7 History.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1411628 655 7 Conference papers and proceedings.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1423772 655 7 Conference papers and proceedings.|2lcgft|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/genreForms/gf2014026068 700 1 Jarausch, Konrad Hugo,|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ names/n81131631|eeditor. 700 1 Lindenberger, Thomas,|d1955-|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/n86119670|eeditor. 700 1 Ramsbrock, Annelie,|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ no2004116549|eeditor. 776 08 |iPrint version:|tConflicted memories.|dNew York ; Oxford : Berghahn Books, 2011.|z9780857451675|w(OCoLC)751789668 830 0 Studies in contemporary European history ;|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n2004096378|vv. 3. 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=714116|zOnline ebook via EBSCO.
