Anti- Immigrantism in Western Democracies draws upon the works of Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari, and analyses their understanding of desire, its forms and its relation to the social order. Doty uses these concepts as a way to comprehend the forces at work in the social, political and economic life, to explore the impulses which move society towards various practices and policies, and finally to understand statecraft. In this innovative work the author concludes that immigration is an exemplary site of the manifestation of the desire for order and security in a world where things are perceived to be under threat and investigates the concept of neo-racism and its relationship to immigration policies. It will interest students and researchers of International Relations, Migration Studies and Cultural Studies. 588 0 Print version record. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 650 0 Racism|xPolitical aspects|zUnited States.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2010109284 650 0 Racism|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85110266 |xPolitical aspects|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh00005651|zGreat Britain.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/n79023147-781 650 0 Racism|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85110266 |xPolitical aspects|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh00005651|zFrance.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/n79006404-781 650 7 Racism|xPolitical aspects.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/ fast/1086627 650 7 Racism.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1086616 650 7 Emigration and immigration.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org /fast/908690 650 7 Government policy.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1353198 650 7 Racism.|2homoit|0https://homosaurus.org/v3/homoit0002038 651 0 United States|xEmigration and immigration|xGovernment policy.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh2007100021 651 0 Great Britain|xEmigration and immigration|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2008117808|xGovernment policy.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh99005269 651 0 France|xEmigration and immigration|xGovernment policy. |0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2008115075 651 7 United States.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1204155 651 7 Great Britain.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1204623 651 7 France.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1204289 655 4 Electronic books. 776 08 |iPrint version:|aDoty, Roxanne Lynn.|tAnti-immigrantism in Western democracies.|dLondon ; New York : Routledge, 2003|z0203391950|z0415299799|w(DLC) 2002151226 |w(OCoLC)50773255 830 0 Routledge/RIPE series in global political economy. |pRoutledge/RIPE studies in global political economy ;|v9. 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=93372|zOnline eBook.
