Adam M. Schor focuses on Theodoret, bishop of Cyrrhus, his Syrian allies, and his opponents, led by Alexandrian bishops Cyril and Dioscorus. Although both sets of clerics adhered to the Nicene creed, their contrasting theological statements led to hostilities, violence, and the permanent fracturing of the Christian community. Schor closely examines council transcripts, correspondence, and other records of communication. Using social network theory, he argues that Theodoret's doctrinal coalition was actually a meaningful community, bound by symbolic words and traditions, riven with internal rivalries, and embedded in a wider world of elite friendship and patronage. 588 0 Print version record. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 600 00 Theodoret,|cBishop of Cyrrhus|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/n81119785|xFriends and associates. |0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh00005818 600 04 Theodoret,|cBishop of Cyrrhus. 600 07 Theodoret,|cBishop of Cyrrhus.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/80880 650 0 Christian sociology|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85124213|zSyria|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities /names/n80061798-781|xHistory.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh99005024 650 0 Antiochian school.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85005723 650 7 Friends and associates.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/ fast/1353140 650 7 Christian sociology.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 859530 650 7 History.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/958235 650 7 Church history.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/860740 650 7 Antiochian school.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 810639 651 0 Syria|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n80061798 |xChurch history.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects /sh99005023 651 7 Syria.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1208757 655 4 Electronic books. 655 7 Church history.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1411629 655 7 History.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1411628 776 08 |iPrint version:|aSchor, Adam M., 1976-|tTheodoret's people.|dBerkeley : University of California Press, ©2010 |z9780520268623|w(DLC) 2010025774|w(OCoLC)643082348 830 0 Transformation of the classical heritage ;|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n42025052|v48. 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=362292|zOnline eBook.
