Structured as a Greek play, the book opens with a parents' earnest quest for answers, understanding, and doubt. Each section of the Three Act is highlighted by "Autism Spectrum Questionnaires" which are in dialogue with and in opposition to what the parent perceives to be their relationship with their child. Interspersed throughout each section are sequences of standardized test questions akin to those one would find in grade school, except these questions unravel into deeper mysteries. The depth of the book is told in a series of episodic prose poems that parallel the parable of Theseus and the Minotaur. In these short clips of montage the unnamed "boy" explores his world and the world of perception, all the while hearing the rumblings of the Minotaur somewhere in the heart of an immense Labyrinth. Through the medium of this allusion, de la Paz meditates on failures, foundering, and the possibility of finding one's way"--|cProvided by publisher. 588 0 Online resource; title from digital title page (viewed on January 15, 2020). 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 650 0 Autistic children|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects /sh85010041|vPoetry.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh99001678 650 0 Perceptual disorders in children|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2008003682|vPoetry.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh99001678 650 0 Communicative disorders|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85029113|xChildren|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh99004941|vPoetry.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh99001678 650 0 Parent and child|vPoetry.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh2010105109 650 0 Prose poems.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85107566 650 7 Autistic children.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 822506 650 7 Perceptual disorders in children.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1745745 650 7 Communicative disorders.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/ fast/870370 650 7 Parent and child.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1053308 650 7 Prose poems.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1079315 655 4 Electronic books. 655 7 Poetry.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1423828 655 7 Poetry.|2lcgft|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/genreForms/ gf2014026481 776 08 |iPrint version:|aDe la Paz, Oliver, 1972-|tBoy in the labyrinth.|dAkron : University of Akron Press, 2019 |z9781629221724|w(DLC) 2019023505 830 0 Akron series in poetry.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ names/n94007585 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=2223268|zOnline ebook via EBSCO.
