However, soon after returning from duty, a large number of veterans began reporting health problems they believed were associated with their service in the Gulf. At the request of Congress, the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine has been conducting an ongoing review of the evidence to determine veterans' long-term health problems and potential causes. Some of the health effects identified by past reports include post -traumatic stress disorders, other mental health disorders, Gulf War illness, respiratory effects, and self-reported sexual dysfunction. Veterans' concerns regarding the impacts of deployment-related exposures on their health have grown to include potential adverse effects on the health of their children and grandchildren. These concerns now increasingly involve female veterans, as more women join the military and are deployed to war zones and areas that pose potential hazards. Gulf War and Health: Volume 11 evaluates the scientific and medical literature on reproductive and developmental effects and health outcomes associated with Gulf War and Post-9/11 exposures, and designates research areas requiring further scientific study on potential health effects in the descendants of veterans of any era"--Publisher's description 588 Online resource; title from PDF title page (National Academies Press, viewed February 19, 2019) 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 647 7 Persian Gulf War|d(1991)|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/ fast/1058380 648 7 1991|2fast 650 0 Persian Gulf War, 1991|xHealth aspects|zUnited States. |0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2008109068 650 0 Persian Gulf War, 1991|xVeterans|xDiseases|zUnited States. |0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2010105536 650 0 Persian Gulf syndrome|zUnited States.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2010105534 650 0 Post-traumatic stress disorder|zUnited States.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2010107810 650 0 Persian Gulf War, 1991|zUnited States.|0https://id.loc.gov /authorities/subjects/sh2010105539 650 0 Veterans|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85142973|xPsychology.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh2002011487 650 0 Combat|xPsychological aspects.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85028793 650 0 Combat|xPhysiological aspects.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85028792 650 7 Persian Gulf syndrome.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast /1058453 650 7 Post-traumatic stress disorder.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1072762 650 7 Veterans|xPsychology.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1165790 650 7 Veterans.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1165710 650 7 Combat|xPsychological aspects.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/868934 650 7 Combat|xPhysiological aspects.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/868933 651 2 United States.|0https://id.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/D014481 651 7 United States.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1204155 655 4 Electronic books. 776 08 |iPrint version:|tGulf war and health.|dWashington, DC: National Academies Press, 2018|z0309478235|z9780309478236 |w(OCoLC)1078886195 830 0 Consensus study report.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ names/n2017188206 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=2037450|zOnline eBook via EBSCO.
